The excitement is often tinged with trepidation; your new team may have known you in your previous role and may even have been colleagues on the same level. It is important to give yourself the best shot of starting on the right foot.

    1. You are the manager, don’t try and be a friend. It sends mixed signals and can confuse the power dynamic and confuse your message.
    2. The quality of your communication is the response you get, make sure your expectations are clearly communicated, understood and accepted.
    3. Trust takes time. Trying to force things will do more harm than good.
